PDHPE is designed to foster the holistic development of every boy. We believe that physical well-being, social-emotional growth, and personal health awareness are integral to the overall educational experience.
Our Physical Education curriculum (PE) inspires pupils to value movement through the acquisition and application of skills, concepts and strategies across a range of physical activities. From team sports and individual challenges to dance, gymnastics and swimming, our lessons cater to the diverse needs and abilities of our boys, offering differentiated instruction and personalised support. These activities also help to cultivate essential life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and leadership.
The Personal Development and Health (PDH) learning experience reflects the dynamic nature of health, safety, and well-being within a diverse and rapidly changing society. It addresses topics relevant to students and emphasises how various contextual factors shape personal values, attitudes, and behaviours.
The Personal Development and Health Program (PDH) equips boys with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to make informed decisions about their health and relationships. Boys learn to investigate, apply, assess, and critically evaluate concepts to enhance their own health, safety and well-being. They are encouraged to question and challenge assumptions, attitudes, behaviours, and stereotypes while also assessing a variety of health-related resources, services, and organisations. The curriculum promotes values that foster empathy, resilience, respectful interactions, inclusiveness, and social justice.
The School community follows the “Grow Your Mind" program, which focuses on social and emotional well-being. Drawing from positive psychology, neuroscience, public health research, and social and emotional learning, building the essential knowledge and skills required for the maintenance of mental health. Additionally, a Consent program has been implemented to promote a culture of respect, understanding, and personal boundaries among our boys. The program is designed to educate our young learners about the importance of consent and empower them with the knowledge and skills to navigate interpersonal relationships with respect and responsibility.
The learning experiences in PDHPE provide students with a foundation to actively contribute to, and advocate for, the health, safety and well-being of themselves and others in the community and beyond school.
